Shocking Trump Poll: Record Decline and the Shadow of Losing Congress

Al-Taj News – A new opinion poll conducted by The Washington Post in cooperation with ABC News and the Ipsos Institute showed that U.S. President Donald Trump’s popularity had fallen to 33 percent, amid growing dissatisfaction with his economic performance and the war with Iran, while Democrats were leading the race to take control of the House of Representatives ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for next month.

According to the poll, 66 percent of Americans were dissatisfied with Trump’s performance, including 52 percent who strongly disapproved of it. Meanwhile, his approval rating had fallen by 4 percentage points since last July and by 8 points compared with the same period last year.

The current approval rating is the lowest Trump has recorded during either of his presidential terms, while his approval rating among likely voters stood at 38 percent, compared with 62 percent who disapproved of his performance.

The poll revealed that 72 percent of Americans believe their country is heading in the wrong direction, an increase of 5 percentage points since last April.
